Cooking in an actual kitchen
Cooking is something we all do, but so many of us take for granted that we actually have a kitchen to cook in.
It is often said that the kitchen is the heart of any house. That is where our food is prepared and a lot of the family bonding takes place. For so many of the families, the place where they cook is small, dark and unventilated, using equipment that is not fit for handling food we put into our bodies. We are installing basic kitchens, for families in need.
Um majd’s kitchen.
Um Majd is the first wife in a polygamous marriage and a mother of three daughters. Her husband works as a construction worker with very sporadic income. Um Majd lives in a very simple one room house with a small courtyard that connects to their kitchen and bathroom. Um Majd’s kitchen does not have any cupboards at all so storing her kitchen utensils is a challenge. We are helping her organise her kitchen by installing a simple set of cupboards.

Um mohammed’s kitchen.
Um and Abu Mohammed is an elderly couple who lives together with their son and their family. While the house is clean and tidy, their kitchen has no cupboards at all for storing either food, nor utensils. We are installing cupboards there as well as also hopefully replace their ceiling.
